gender roles in 'murican society

In ACDC's album, High Voltage, the song "She's Got Balls" talks about views of women during this time period (1975) and how women's main role is to please men, and that also serves as their only value.  In the mid-70s to the mid-80s there are definitely high prevalence rates of sexism and misogyny in America.  I won't put the lyrics to the song seeing as they're somewhat vulgar to some audiences (aka Mrs. Samsinak), but they're definitely derogatory towards women.  Not only does the music of this time contain sexism but the media also contained a lot of sexism.

A Doll's House: Act 1

9. What are your first impressions of Nora and Torvald?  What does their relationship seem to be like?
My first impression of Nora is that she's not very loud, and she doesn't stand up to her husband.  My first impression of Torvald is that he's very controlling of Nora but he respects her.  Their relationship seems to be an average relationship of the time.  Torvald is in charge, and Nora has very little freedom.

10. Since this is a work of literature, you know that some sort of conflict will be introduced that will change the relationship of the characters.  Based on this first scene, make a prediction about what will happen when Nora and Torvald come into conflict.
Based on the first scene, I think that when Nora and Torvald come into conflict, Nora will finally stand up to Torvald and end of leaving him.

New Year's Resolution

While I have several New Year's resolutions, my main goal for this year is to not eat Chinese food.  I chose this goal because even though Chinese food is my favorite food, it's really unhealthy.  Originally my resolution was going to be to give up all unhealthy foods, but I decided that it would be easier to start with just one thing and then eventually give up all unhealthy foods.  I chose Chinese food because I thought it would be fairly easy to give up seeing as the school stopped serving it.
